support a trail crew

In 2025, Trail Mix launched Support a Trail Crew to respond to unprecedented federal layoffs and ensure our trails remained staffed with skilled, local workers. Thanks to your generosity, we raised nearly $55,000 to sustain ongoing Forest Service trail maintenance and create a landing spot for local trail crew members facing job loss.

While the Forest Service’s Reduction in Force (RIF) is still ongoing, we’re preparing these funds to support impacted staff in the months ahead. If you’re a federal worker facing unemployment, please reach out.

From all of us at Trail Mix, thank you. Your support didn’t just help launch our season, it showed that this community stands strong for the trails and the people who care for them.

Trails Build Alaska

Trails Build Alaska was a statewide advocacy effort championed by Trail Mix to create a trails workforce development program through American Rescue Plan Act funds. By building a trained trails workforce and better access to public lands, we invest in Alaska’s people, land, and economy.

Inspired by Juneau’s own Covid-19 Conservation Corps, the idea garnered bipartisan support in the legislature and across the state, particularly in Southeast. Trail Mix will continue to pursue ways to increase our ability to improve Juneau’s trails.

Covid-19 Conservation Corps

The Covid-19 Conservation Corps was an investment in our local workforce, outdoor recreation infrastructure, and economic resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic.
